Known for her simplicity and humility, Mother Teresa of Calcutta used a rosary made of Job’s Tears for her personal prayers. Job Tears (coix) seeds are a natural bead. These tear-shaped beads are typically grey in colour but the colour may vary. They grow with a hole through the middle and have a hard, shiny coating. These natural seeds have been used as a bead for over 5000 years and have long been used in making prayer beads and eventually rosaries.
According to legend, the name Job’s Tears was given to this fruit in memory of the many tears shed by Job in the Old Testament writings.
