Madeleine Miller hopes to find a place to call home after leaving the military and inheriting her Amish grandparents' house. But when she meets Saul, her thoughts about her future take a turn. After many years, he finally feels free to remarry and find a mother for his six-year-old daughter, Susie, who has become fast friends with Madeleine. When Madeleine hires Saul for a carpentry job in the kitchen, they are attracted to one another but question whether their attraction can overcome their cultural differences.
