This book deals with the modern controversy between atheism and philosophy of religion. Kant's critique of atheism and his ethical doctrine of God form the basis for types of atheism, which are characterized here. In these types Nietzsche claims a central position. In contrast to this position, classical models of the relation of God and Self in Fichte, in Hegel, in Holderlin and Kierkegaard are outlined.
