Das Heilige (In) Der Kultur: Unverf

The sacred has long been reflected upon in many disciplines - this volume puts forward a new definition for discussion. In it, the sacred is understood as a phenomenon in which two complementary actions are always linked: one of exclusion (through the attribution of unavailability, non-negotiability or untransgressibility) and one of appropriation (through dedication or sanctification). This interdisciplinary study claims to locate the sacred in both religious-transcendental and secular contexts, in its contemporary as well as historical manifestations.
